Where did you grow up? I grew up in the foothills of Denver, about 25 minutes from downtown Denver and an hour from skiing. Growing up in the mountains instilled a love of the outdoors and Colorado outdoor activities — skiing, cycling, hiking, running, etc.

Perfect Saturday? A bike ride (summer) or skate ski through Theodore Wirth Park/Chain of Lakes (winter) followed by a stop at a Minneapolis coffee shop, cooking a Barefoot Contessa recipe for dinner with friends and making chocolate chunk blondies for dessert.

What word best defines you? Driven

History with your own family businesses? My grandpa’s side of the family arrived in Lansing, Iowa from Switzerland in the 1850s and began farming. Driven by my grandpa’s passion for the farm, the farm the family started has since expanded and remains in the family 150+ years later — now celebrated as both a Century and Heritage farm in Iowa.

Most influential person to you? My grandma. Growing up, I spent several days a week with her when my parents were at work. As a former schoolteacher, she was always teaching. She had me writing my name, reading and working my toy cash register from an early age. She helped launch me in life, taught me how to work hard, and be good to other people.
